2008 Megagauss Conference
International Steering Committee is pleased to invite you to take part in the XII International Conference
on Megagauss Magnetic Field Generation and Related Topics (Megagauss XII) to be held on July 13-18, 2008 in
Novosibirsk, Russia. The Conference will follow the established tradition of bringing together internationally
leading specialists to present and discuss their latest findings.
The key topics for the 2008 conference are:
- Ultrahigh magnetic field generation
- Non-destructive production of pulsed, high magnetic fields
- Explosively driven magnetic flux compression generators and high current sources
- High-current, high-power switching and power conditioning
- High energy liners
- Science in ultrahigh magnetic fields

- Diagnostics and experimental techniques
- Experiments for high-energy density in physics
- Related topics
The venue of the Conference is the worldwide famous scientific center, Novosibirsk Academgorodok,
located in a picturesque forest-rich region on the shore of the Ob Sea. There are more than 20 research institutes
of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Academgorodok, as well as the Novosibirsk State University integrated with the
scientific center. Novosibirsk is a large scientific, industrial, and cultural center of Russia.
Megagauss XII Conference is the overall responsibility of Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics with assistance
from the Russian Academy of Sciences and Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The II International Workshop "High Energy Density Hydrodynamics" will be held immediately after the Conference,
on July 19-22, 2008, in Academgorodok. The scope of the Workshop covers the following topics:
- Magnetohydrodynamic flows at high energy density; generation of ultimate magnetic fields; behavior of materials at high energy densities
- Acceleration of solid bodies to high velocities, advances and basic problems; search for new opportunities
- Cumulation problems, operation of shaped charges in the presence of strong magnetic fields; mechanics of shaped-charge jet penetration into various targets
Post-conference tours for Conference participants to Lake Baikal, Moscow, and St. Petersburg are possible.
